CROSS — Dining table, Linteloo
“I’ve continued my exploration of previous gestures for Linteloo, Cross, as the name suggests. plays with the notion of crossing. its solid wood legs intersect to both offer a graphic rhythm under the table but also good stability for the marble top. It’s a cross between two types of materials, wood and marble, vegetal and mineral.”
Cross juxtaposes materials, giving unexpected complexity to this apparently simple piece. A cross of textured oak is surmounted by a marble top with an elaborately veined marble that looks rich and opulent, the entire sculptural structure supported by tripod legs in solid wood.
If ever ‘crossing your legs’ was taken literally, it is in this powerful ‘Cross’ table. The two tripod sets of solid oak legs create an interesting rhythm, which changes according to the angle in which you see the table. A beautifully clever concept, but also highly functional in the way it offers complete stability to the marble top, which is dissected by a cross of the same, textured oak.
